Hidden Gems of India – Pachmarhi (Satpura Range, Madhya Pradesh)

Pachmarhi is Madhya Pradesh's most verdant gem. A lovely hill resort girdled by the Satpura ranges, it offers absolute tranquility. Bridle paths lead into placid forest groves of wild bamboo, jamun, dense sal forests and delicate bamboo thickets. It is widely known as Satpura ki Rani ("Queen of Satpura"), situated at a height of 1100 m in a valley of the Satpura Range in Hosghangabad District.

The single hill station in Madhya Pradesh, Pachmarhi is a large flat terrain, circled by the snooty knolls of the Satpura range. Its countryside is characterized by rocky hills, woody forests and deep canyons. The lustrous greenery combined with the majestic hills and the cascading waterfalls presents eye-catching scenery to the observer. One among the main attractions of this hilly resort is the spectacular sight it provides when the sun sets in the horizon.

In Pachmarhi, the magnificence of nature is well complimented by the hands of man. Large-scale excavations in this hilly terrain reveal so many ancient caves that are of great value on an archaeological point of view.

Pachmarhi is located at 3500 feet above sea level near the heart of Madhya Pradesh the “Queen of the Hills” Satpura Range.

Access routes by Air:- 

Nearest Airport is Bhopal 210 Km, Indore 390 km, Jabalpur 250 Km and Nagpur 270 Km.

Access by Road:-

Pachmarhi is well connected from Bhopal and Indore. Buses start from Habibganj ISBT of Bhopal and generally take close to 5–6 hours to reach Pachmarhi. The buses move through different towns like Hoshangabad, Babai, Sohagpur and Pipariya.

Access by Rail:-

Pachmarhi is 54 km from Pipariya Railway station. 150 km from Itarsi Railway station.

Hidden Gems of India – Bhamour (Chamba, Himachal Pradesh)

65 kms from Chamba is the land of legendary Gaddies, i.e. Bharmaur. Known as Brahmpur in the 6th century, was the seat of power of Chamba state for some 400 years till AD 920, when a new capital was founded at Chamba by Raja Sahil Varman. Bharmaur is known for some very old archaeological remains, primarily the temples. All these temples stand on a level area which call the Chaurasi after the 84 Siddhas who are believed to have meditated in Bharmaur over 1000 years ago. These Siddhas hailed from Kurukshetra and visited Manimahesh. 

Bharmour is beautiful town surrounded by high green mountains of Himachal Pradesh. Bharmour is often reffered as the land of Lord Shiva because of belif that lord shiva resides at mountain Kailash which is located in this area. Bharmour is popular for its natural beauty, for Chaurasi temples and Manimahesh. Chaurasi Temples stand on a level area in centre of Bharmour and are named after the 84 Siddhas who are believed to have meditated in here over thousand years ago. Another attraction of Bharmour is the Mani Mahesh Lake. To reach the lake one drives for a hour ahead of Bharmour to the road end at Village Hadsar about, 13 kms away. From there you can trek for 4 hrs to reach the lake. Bharmour is also known for its delicious apples and local blankets.

DAY 01 ARRIVE DELHI
Arrive very early in the morning. On arrival you will be taken to your hotel, where rooms are reserved for you.

DAY 02 DELHI - AGRA (BY SURFACE)
After an early breakfast proceed for an half day city tour of Old & New Delhi. You will do doing drive pass to Red Fort and visit QUTAB MINAR, the tallest stone tower in India; HUMAYUN’S TOMB built in the Indo Persian style and a predecessor to The Taj Mahal in Agra; India Gate – A War Memorial Arch. Also drive past the President’s House, Parliament House, Government Secretariat Buildings and Connaught Place – the heart of New Delhi.
In the afternoon you will, drive 220 kms to Agra which is a very interesting 4 hours drive passing through beautiful countryside and villages.

Check-in at hotel on arrival and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight is at the hotel

DAY 03 AGRA – JAIPUR ENROUTE VISIT TO FATEHPUR SIKRI
Today early morning you will visit the famous white marble mausoleum, THE TAJ MAHAL, which was built in the middle of the 17th century by the Moghul emperor Shah Jehan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal.
The Taj Mahal surely the greatest monument to love and one of the wonders of the modern world. Completed in 1652, skilled craftsmen from Persia, Turkey, France and Italy and some 20,000 labourers worked for 17 years to build this edifice, constructed by emperor Shah Jehan as a mausoleum for his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal. Marble was brought from Makrana, near Jodhpur and precious stones of onyx, amethyst, malachite, lapis lazuli, turquoise, jade, crystal and mother of pearl were carried to Agra from Persia, Russia, Afghanistan, Tibet, China and the Indian Ocean.

You will also visit the red sandstone AGRA FORT which stands like a crescent on the banks of Jamuna River enclosed by forbidding 20-meter high walls, with a 12- meter moat between them. Three successive Mughal emperors - Akbar, Jehangir and Shah Jehan - helped create this massive structure which contains Hindu and Muslim architecture

In the afternoon you will drive to the “pink city” and the capital of Rajasthan en-route visiting the ancient Moghul capital of FATEHPUR SIKRI en-route.
This 16th century capital of Moghul emperor Akbar is a complex of forts, palaces and mosques built in sandstone. The city had to be deserted because of lack of water. The white marble Tomb of Sheikh Salim Chisti, Akbar's spiritual adviser, is now observed as a Muslim pilgrimage spot here

Later continue your drive to Jaipur and check in at the hotel on arrival. Jaipur is known as the "pink city" with its buildings of pink and orange hues and it's a wonderful place to see the color of Rajasthan and its people. Jaipur is well known for its beautiful carpets, enamelled ornaments, precious and semi-precious stones, brass ornaments and many other arts and crafts.

Overnight is at the hotel.

DAY 04 IN JAIPUR
This morning you will drive 11kms in the outskirts of the city to visit Amber Fort, the ancient capital of the State until 1728. Visit the Temple of Kali, the Hall of Victory or Jai Mahal and Jagmandir. You can have the unique experience of traveling on elephant back to the top of the hill on which the fort is situated.

In the afternoon visit the Observatory, the Palace of Winds and the City Palace and Museum. The museum has an interesting textile section, which contains dresses and costumes of the former Maharajas and Maharanis of Jaipur.

Overnight is at the hotel.

DAY 05 JAIPUR – DELHI (BY SURFACE)
